He delivered a global learning and development programme, ‘Making the Most of Difference’ (MMoD), for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in over 160 countries. It was designed as a strategic intervention to enable it to build a high performance, inclusive culture.  MMoD achieved a 93% satisfaction rating across 800 workshops and was awarded the World Diversity Leadership Summit (WDLS) Diversity Innovation Award, judged by a panel of Fortune 100 Companies. Additionally, through the consultancy’s global alliance partners, he has ready access to research and experience from around the world on best practices

Ian discovered the business benefits of diversity over 25 years ago when, as a board member of ICI’s Fine Chemicals Manufacturing Organisation, he enabled senior managers across ICI’s European sites to deliver strategic and operational synergies internationally. He was then asked to head up the ICI Group’s Management of Change team, where he worked with Fons Trompenaars, the global cross-cultural guru, to improve managers’ leadership of multinational teams, and increase the representation of women and ethnic minorities in management. Subsequently, ICI’s Group Chairman, Sir Denys Henderson, gave him responsibility for the leadership and business development of the firm’s top 1,500 managers worldwide, including executive coaching. As a result, Ian was invited to lead a major project, funded by the UK Government, to research the development of leadership among senior managers.

Ian has been a member of the advisory bodies on management development in London, Manchester and Michigan business schools, and a non-executive director of the Foundation for Management Education. He has lectured on change management at Cranfield School of Management, diversity and inclusion at Kings College, London, and on co-counselling at the University of Surrey. Ian is a regular speaker on platforms in Europe and elsewhere and has published articles on inclusion and diversity, transformational change management and leadership development. He is featured in Who’s Who ‘Business Leaders of the Millennium’ and is a Who’s Who Mentor. He is the Lotus Award Winner, 2017, for Lifetime Achievement in Pioneering Inclusive Cultures.

Ian Dodds holds MA (Oxon), PhD, Cert Ed (with distinction), and is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA)
